I received this link in a forward and had to check it out. Under "who we track" this is what they say -
"We track virtually everyone with a criminal record including sex offenders, ex-cons (felony and misdemeanor), and those guilty of some of the more serious traffic infractions. You have the right to know who your neighbors are. We hope to track persons accused of crimes but acquitted in the future, but at this time we do not have sufficient funding to expand our database that far."
I ran my address and was surprised at what I found - it isn't going to cause me to move but it is nice to have a heads up about who lives around you!

I agree the idea for this site is great. As a mom I am all for it. As a citizen I am concerned. I put in my address and found that they listed a few neighbors, and close friend, the last names were correct but the first names and ages were incorrect. I looked further and found many discrepencies. If I was incorrectly listed on this site I would be very upset and my life could be changed for the worse. I wonder where the site gets it's information. Let's not have a witch hunt where there might be no witches!
Thanks for the comment. I agree with you - I don't know where felonspy gets their information - and I think this website is like anything else you read or listen to (newspaper, TV, Radio, etc) - there are always going to be mistakes and errors. I just found it to be worth "checking out." There are other websites through the sheriff's department, GBI and FBI that can help with any information that is found on this website. As always, use your best judgement and always!! double check your information with multiple sources...I'll try to get those other websites posted ASAP so there are more sources for this sort of info!! And if you know of any, please post a link to them!!

I hate to break it to you, but the site is not for real. It's a joke.

If you poke around the different sections, you can see they're not serious, and I think it's meant to make a point about these kinds of database search sites. ^_^;
Thanks for the snopes link. Don't know why I didn't think of that earlier...
In resonse to all of this I've posted the addresses for the Bartow County Sheriff's Office, C'ville Police and the GBI - they have a search engine for sex offenders, most wanted lists and crime statistics.
