Notes from Leigh Anne...

Happy New Year to you all!!

I'm trying to get my head around the fact it is 2008. Where did the 90's go? or even 2000? Was it 8 years ago that we were all worried about y2K and the melt down of all technology? Which, by the way, I didn't totally buy into. I figured that they knew it was coming so somebody, somewhere was working on it. I also figured if I needed to go build an outhouse I could do that in the year 2000 just as easy as I could in 1999.

We had a wonderful Christmas. Santa was good to all! Although the furniture and all our walls, trim, and doors are suffering from Asa and his new tricycle. Not only is this wheel base wider than the ones before, we have now discovered the joy of "I crash." He also got lots of books, craft supplies, blocks and trucks. All such MUSTS for a little boy! The favorites seem to be a basketball game (hit a lever and it shoots a ball) from the dollar tree, and his scissors (we've had a few rounds of "No, you don't cut the furniture"). I guess you can say he isn't exactly high maintenance. But, I'm sure that will change over the next few years. I know Martin's toys are expensive so I'm enjoying this time while Asa's are not!

My birthday was the other day. Asa sang to me for two days "Happy to you" before switching to "Happy to Asa." When I reminded him it was my birthday I got a "Happy to Asa and Mommy" response. Not sure where the birthday part of the song went but it was REALLY cute to listen to him. He also helped me bake my (which promptly became HIS with an occasional OUR) birthday cake. He picked out "Barbie" decorations at the grocery store and Martin had the idea of adding a strawberry jam and pecans as a layer in the middle. I must say it was a really good birthday cake, if I do say so myself!!

Today is back to normal day. We've not really discussed new years resolutions but I keep thinking mine is going to be to run another 5K this year. I've not done that for about 3 years now (pre Asa) and I do miss it! Not so much the competition of the race (I'm usually a strong competitor for last place :-) but just being able to go the distance. One day I'd like to take Asa to the little "tot trots" I think he would like that.
